| These are little tidbits of information that I have collected through the years from various newsletters, publications, books, magazines, friends and Elders from around the world. I hope you enjoy reading them. With all the essential oils, please be sure to wash your hands with soap/water after using them and don't get them near your eyes. *************************************************************************************** Tea Tree Oil: can be helpful with headaches when massaged on the muscle between the thumb and index finger of your right hand. (Please be sure to always remember to wash your hands afterwards, you never want to get this, or any, oil in your eyes) An Apple a Day: Cornell University researchers have identified 12 different compounds called triterpenoids in apple skin that were shown to either inhibit or outright kill cancer cells in lab cultures. The cancer cells included those of the human liver, colon, and breast. Based on their studies, these same researchers feel apples may also help in preventing or fighting Alzheimer's disease. So, an apple a day........ A little Frankincense will do: Feeling depressed or having high anxiety? Light a Frankincense incense stick or cone. If you cannot handle the smoke or are in an area where you can't do this, put a drop of Frankincense oil on a tissue and breathe in. In moments you will feel calmer and your spirits will be lifted. Ancient sages, metaphysical and religious practitioners, as far back as biblical times, have been using this wonderful oil with great results. So sit back, relax, and breathe deeply and enjoy your newfound calm. Be sure to keep away from eyes-wash your hands after using this or any oils. Keep your Natural defenses high: 1 drop of pure peppermint oil and 1 drop of pure lavender oil rubbed into the bottom of your feet each night will boost your immune system and help you ward off illness during the winter months, and the rest of the year, too. This is a great addition to your healthy diet and exercise program you may already have in place. But who couldn't use a little extra defense. Mid Afternoon Blah's? 1-2 drops of peppermint oil on a tissue and breathed in slowly and deeply will invigorate your senses and help you come out of your slump. So much better for you than that mid afternoon cup of Joe or a candy bar, there are no jitters or crashes later on. Cough keeping you up at night? Instead of rubbing your vapor rub on your chest, put it on the soles of your feet and put on clean cotton socks. You will be amazed how it will calm your cough through the night. Thyme to help your cold, flu & sore throat symptoms: Pour a cup of boiling water over 2 tsp dried (or 3 tsp fresh) thyme and steep for 10 minutes. Drink 3 cups daily for your symptoms. You can gargle with this mixture to help ease a sore throat.
